Being a fashion designer I was trained to keep an inspiration book. It just got beyond control. Books and boxes full of photocopies, photographs, little objects, fabric samples, magazines, notes, drawings you name it. I thought why not order it this way... as sort of a blog.

It's been a fantastic yoga session today - met an (ex-)ballet dancer who has his own warm-up style entitled the "Mark"asana. And more unexpectedly after 90 minutes of sweat and focus our teacher popped some bubbles and brought Belgian pralines - thank you for that!

nothing is entirely true

Nothing is entirely true, not even this.

There is this quote painted on a buildings facade in the Stoopstraat in Antwerp. It is quite visible even from the bicycle and it is one of those things that makes you think while you pass by, specially when you are stopped by red light. Although according to the wall the quote originates from Frederik van Eeden, other sources attribute it to another Dutch writer, Multatuli.

Or "Nothing can be known, not even this" [Carneades, academic scepticism].

Icare

"the story of the ballet {Icarus} is based on the ancient Greek myth of Icarus whose father Daedalus builds him a pair of artificial wings. Disobeying his father's orders, Icarus flies too close to the sun, which melts the wax in his wings and causes him to plunge to his death." [ Au, Susan (2002). Ballet and Modern Dance. Thames and Hudson]

"Sarah Schönfeld squeezed drops of various legal and illegal liquid drug mixtures onto negative film which had already been exposed. Each drop altered the coating of the film. Much like the effect of some of these substances on humans, this can be a lengthy process – sometimes one that can barely be stopped. She then enlarged these negatives including the chemical reaction of the particular drug, to sizes of up to 160 x 200 cm.

All of the substances behaved very differently: the shapes and colors that appeared showed unique characteristics and revealed unique internal universes."

The persons do cast long shadows on this image, but the trees do not, as apparently the shadows were painted and the scene shot on an overcast day.
